Mother's Day is just around the corner! According to Wikipedia, this special|wonderful|unique holiday was established back in the late 1800's in the United States as a meeting of groups of mothers whose sons had fought and/or died on opposite sides of the American Civil War. It was established|started as "Mother's Friendship Day" with the purpose of reuniting families that had been divided during the Civil War. It wasn't until 1934 that this special day was really considered a national holiday with the approval of U.S. President FDR. Now Mother's Day is celebrated around the nation on the second Sunday in May, and finding the right|perfect gift can sometimes be difficult for that mom who doesn't seem to need anything. Here are some ideas - and of course, use some ribbons and bows to add a little special something to the look. Specialized Baskets The Movie Night Basket ? Fill a popcorn tub with real popcorn as filler ? Arrange her favorite DVD's on top of the popcorn - don't forget to tie a pretty|festive|beautiful ribbon around each one ? Place movie tickets in an envelope and tie a thin|pretty ribbon around it ? Put a couple|few pocket size tissue paper for those classics that always bring a tear to her eye ? For some snacks, don't forget a couple|few bags of microwave popcorn and her favorite movie candy ? Start with either a nice|pretty wicker basket or maybe a functional plastic container ? Start with the larger items first - the body scrub, shower gel, bubble bath and lotion - placing them in the basket ? Select scented soaps, candles, potpourri or homemade sachets filled with her favorite scent and place them around the other items ? Add some spa slippers, plush towel|washcloth, a neck pillow and gel eye-pack ? Maybe add a CD of romantic or relaxing music and a small|nice bottle of wine ? Want to go the extra mile - how about a gift certificate for a massage or facial ? Don't forget to wrap some of the gifts and add some ribbons and bows to make the basket more festive Chocolate and Champagne Basket ? A thick wicker basket is perfect - select a couple of her favorite champagnes and put a sheer|beautiful ribbon tied in a bow around each bottle ? Place a couple champagne glasses along with the bottles ? Add a box of truffles and chocolate covered strawberries - decorate the boxes with a thick, sheer ribbon tied in a bow ? Wrap the handle of the basket with either a sheer or satin ribbon
