There is a famous passage in the Bible that says Love is Patient, and Love is Kind. Have you ever struggled with being patient and kind when a person is really being hard to love? Of course you have and so have I! However there is a reward for doing so that is countercultural to our modern day set of values.

Loving the unlovable is contrary to to the "me" mentality that we have today in America. We are bombarded with television ads and other types of messages telling us to just be concerned for number one. That we should just do it. That we deserve it. That what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! This is a self centered world view. So no wonder it becomes hard to love and care for those that become inconvenient.

However I have found a joy in not letting the media and our culture's values become my values, and here is why!

1.) If I let the world dictate to me my values, then I am not being my own person! I am not deciding my ethics and my world view. I am letting some nimrod in Hollywood or Madison avenue to tell me how to think. I am smart enough to think on my own thank you very much!

2.) By not being self centered, I have no problem sleeping at night. Eventually a self centered person will get paybacks. They will get the knife they have stuck in others backs, stuck in their own. You know the old saying. "What comes around, goes around". It is true, and because I choose to love rather than be a self centered twit, I sleep very well at night.

3.) I have found that the people I love during hard times, give back 100 percent of what I ever gave them. Now it is not always the same people, but I receive more love than I ever give. Think of it this way. Every time you plant a seed in someones life with love, you plant a seed that will turn into a plant that gives you a harvest of love back. Now who doesn't need more love in their lives?

In my blog Taber's Truths, I have published several articles on learning how to love. I would like to invite you to come and find out how to love in such a way that you know that your love will never fail.

Blessings
